Vietnam’s Kosy Group kicks off 40-MW phase I Kosy Bac Lieu onshore wind project
Vietnamese real estate developer and renewable energy group Kosy Joint Stock Company launched the 40-MW first phase of the Kosy Bac Lieu onshore wind project at a ground-breaking ceremony held Saturday.
The VND-1.5-billion (USD 64.6m/EUR 55.2m) project marks the first step to building the Kosy Bac Lieu complex in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu. Phase 1 will be followed by the 50-MW phase II and the 100-MW phase 3, the group said in a press release.
The company said it plans to have the project site cleared and some balance-of-plant infrastructure built by the end of the year.
Installation and commissioning of Goldwind turbines is scheduled for early October 2021. According to the timetable, the Kosy Bac Lieu phase I wind farm should come online before the end of October.
Kosy Bac Lieu is the first wind power project for the Kosy Group. Currently, the company is realising its first hydropower plant (HPP) project in Vietnam.
The group is also planning to implement another wind project, a 200-MW solar farm project and a string of small-scale HPP projects, it said.
According to Kosy Group chairman Nguyen Viet Cuong, demand for electricity in Vietnam is on the rise and is estimated to further grow by 10% per year.
