Thai wind project of 260 MW on Sor Por Kor land to move on – report
Thai company Energy Absolute Plc (BKK:EA) plans to proceed as planned with work on a 260-MW wind project in Chaiyaphum after a dispute regarding the use of Sor Por Kor land has been solved, the Bangkok Post reported.
In February the Supreme Administrative Court ruled that installing wind turbines on Sor Por Kor land qualified as misuse, because it is designated for agriculture. That decision affected Thepsathit Wind Farm and caused uncertainty among other developers with projects planned for such land, as reported by local media.
According to the Agricultural Land Reform Committee (ALRC) in Thailand, however, 16 wind projects on Sor Por Kor land have not violated land rental regulations and can press on, the Bangkok Post said last week. Only the Thepsathit case is more complicated.
Energy Absolute plans to start construction of its 260-MW wind farm this year and it is seeking debt financing, Omsin Siri, vice-president for corporate communications, was cited as saying.
