A man and a woman charged with international crimes have been arrested on an Interpol warrant in Phan Thiet City in the coastal province of Binh Thuan, the province’s Police Department has said.
The Swedish couple, Lundgren Nils Goeran Lennart and Sonja Kristina Bridget Eklund Mickelsson, both 58, will be handed over to the Swedish royal police after paperwork is completed.
On December 20 last year, the Swedish royal police issued an international arrest warrant for the couple after they fled Sweden in early December.
The couple set up a construction company in Sweden and a fake villa project in Thailand to swindle millions of US dollars from investors, according to police.
They had opened a travel company in Mui Ne in Phan Thiet City to conceal their whereabouts.
