SK E&C Lands 230 Billion Won Order to Build Petrochemical Plant in Thailand
SK E&C announced on August 29 that the builder won a contract to build a polyol plant with a total construction cost of US$210 million in Rayar Province’s Hemaraj industrial complex in Thailand.
In other words, SK E&C succeeded in receiving a large-scale plant construction project overseas after winning a project for the construction of a US$1.6 billion Iranian oil refining plant earlier this month.
The project aims to build a 130,000-ton polyol plant in Hemaraj Industrial Complex, 150km southeast of Bangkok, Thailand. PTT Global Chemical, an affiliate of the PTT (Petroleum Authority of Thailand) Group, Japan’s Sanyo Chemical and Toyota Tsusho jointly placed the order with SK E&C. SK E&C will take on the whole process from the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) work to trial operation. The project will take 35 months to complete.
SK E&C has carried out 29 construction projects in Thailand since the opening of Sri Lacha Oil Terminal in 1991. In particular, SK E&C will be able to maintain its strong position as a leader in the oil refining and petrochemical plant market in Thailand, following the UHV Refinery project which was ordered by IRPC, a subsidiary of the PTT Group, and completed in January.
