Siemens Gamesa to install 39-MW wind farm in Vietnam
Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) said today it has received an order for a 39-MW wind farm in Vietnam, located in the country’s southern province of Ninh Thuan.
The company will install and commission the Dam Nai project, which will consist of 15 turbines of the SG 2.6-114 model, for Singapore-based independent operator The Blue Circle.
Siemens Gamesa installed the first three turbines last year and has now signed a deal for phase two of the wind farm, under which it should commission the remaining 12 turbines by October 2018. It will also provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for 10 years. The company noted the commissioning deadline is tight because of the strong winds that start in the region from around October.
The turbine manufacturer is committed to Vietnam as a market, said Alvaro Bilbao, Asia Pacific chief executive at Siemens Gamesa, as it expects significant growth in the coming years, with the country having a target to install 1 GW by 2020.
