Samsung Engineering succeeds in installing large modules in Vietnam’s “Longson Petrochemical Project”
Samsung Engineering made an announcement on March 4 that it has successfully installed a polypropylene unit module of the “Longson Petrochemical Project” in Vietnam. This module is a large structure that weighs 1,382 tons and measures 54 meters high.
Samsung Engineering explained that it applied a total of 17 modules to this project and completed installation of all modules after this installation.
Modularization in plant construction has the effect of minimizing on-site safety risks, securing a quality, and shortening the construction period, a company official said.
Besides this project, Samsung Engineering is also making efforts to innovate its business through modularity. For plant construction projects, effective management of variable environments such as the weather at the site, supply and demand of equipment and personnel, and safety issues determine the success or failure of the project.
The modularity performance method is to divide complex plants into transportable sizes and install them only on-site after work in a separate module fabrication yard in a controllable environment, which can minimize on-site work.
Samsung Engineering has been showing modularity in more than 10 projects since the late 2000s.
