Rosewood Bangkok given March 31 opening date
12 March 2019
Rosewood Hotels and Resorts will be making its debut in the Thai capital at the end of this month with the new Rosewood Bangkok slated to open on March 31, the company has announced.
The new property, located on Ploenchit Road in the city’s Lumpini central business and retail district, is the group’s second property in Thailand following the opening of the Rosewood Phuket in 2017.
Reservations are now open for booking at the hotel, which occupies two connecting high-rise structures within a 30-storey building directly connected to the Phloen Chit BTS Station. The area is also home to a number of foreign embassies along with office towers and shopping centres.
Describing the new hotel as “an exciting new expression of ultra-luxury hospitality in Bangkok,” the hotel’s managing director, Thomas, Harlander, said: “Rosewood’s A Sense of Place philosophy will also be thoughtfully interpreted in modern yet authentically Thai fashion through the entire hotel, from its design to all its experiences – we aim to provide a portal to all the many fascinating sides of this captivating capital and culture.”
The hotel features a mix of rooms, suites, and what it calls “House” accommodations. Rooms cover six categories ranging in size from 42sqm to 103sqm studios, while suites come in two types – Manor Suite and Rosewood Suite – offering 79 and 88 sqm respectively. The “Houses”, meanwhile, come in three categories, all with private terraces and outdoor plunge pools, and range in size from 189 to 291 sqm.
On the food and beverage front, the hotel has four offerings. Lakorn European Brasserie on the seventh floor is the all-day dining venue; G&O – standing for “green and organic” – is on the ninth floor adjacent to the outdoor pool and serves healthy cuisine; Nan Bei on the 19th floor is the hotel’s Chinese restaurant offering food from around China; and Lennon’s is the hotel’s top-floor speakeasy bar.
Elsewhere on the leisure side of things is the Sense Spa, an indoor-outdoor lap pool that has views over the city skyline, and a fitness studio.
Bangkok is seeing a number of new, high-end hotels crop up at the moment, including the upcoming Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, which is due to open in the third quarter of this year.
Accorhotels, meanwhile, will open the first of its Orient Express branded hotels in the Thai capital in the last quarter of 2019.
Rosewood, meanwhile, has big plans in Asia as well with the Hong Kong-based company finally due to open a property in its home city on March 17. Further down the line in 2024, Rosewood also plans to open a hotel in Taipei.
