Rama III-Dao Khanong expressway construction to start in May 2019
6 February 2019
The long-delayed construction of a 19.2-km elevated expressway from Rama III Road to Dao Khanong is expected to start in May with a revised budget of Bt30.036 billion, according to the governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT).
EXAT governor Suchart Chonsakpipat said the EXAT has revised the term of reference (TOR) following public hearings. Since there have been no more complaints, the EXAT is now in the process of calling for international bids.
The winner of the bid should be announced in about three months and construction would begin right away.
Bidding for the project, originally scheduled for the middle of last year, was delayed following public complaints. The budget was initially set at Bt29.926 billion but has been revised upwards to Bt30.036.
The project will be divided into five contracts: a 6.9-km elevated road section costing Bt7.054 billion, a 5.3-km elevated section at Bt7.216 billion, a 5-km elevated section worth Bt6.951 billion, a 2-km bridge costing Bt7.937 billion and a toll collection system worth Bt876.3 million.
The new expressway will be financed by the Thailand Future Funds project.
