Power industry contracts in Asia-Pacific for July 2020 down 13%
Asia-Pacific power industry contracts activity in July 2020 saw 71 contracts announced, marking a drop of 13% over the last 12-month average of 82, according to GlobalData’s power database.

Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in July 2020: India leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, India led the activity in July 2020 with 16 contracts and a share of 22.5%, up 4.9% over the previous month and down 16% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Vietnam with 12 contracts and a share of 16.9% and China with eight contracts and a share of 11.3% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 19 contracts, followed by China with 12 and Australia with seven contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in July 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 23 contracts and a 33.3% share, followed by solar with 21 contracts and a 30.4% share and thermal with 12 contracts and a 17.4% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in July 2020, with 36 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (26) and Electricity Procurement (12).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
Supply & Erection: 24 contracts and a 33.8% share
Project Implementation: 20 contracts and a 28.2% share
Consulting & Similar Services: 12 contracts and a 16.9% share
Power Purchase Agreement: 11 contracts and a 15.5% share
Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 5.6% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 4,001.95MW from two contracts
Binh Thuan People’s Committee: 3,500MW from one contract
Electric Power Generation Enterprise (Myanmar): 1,250MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
Azure Power (India): 4,000MW from one contract
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners KS (Denmark): 3,500MW from one contract
Eden Group (Myanmar), Marubeni (Japan), Mitsui & (Japan) and Sumitomo (Japan): 1,250MW capacity from one contract.
