Local industry support from major organisations 2-4 October 2013 at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre, Bangkok
POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia, the region’s premier conference and exhibition for all aspects of the power generation industry, will return to Bangkok, Thailand from 2nd to 4th October 2013, at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre.
POWER-GEN Asia, collocated with Renewable Energy World Asia, is the leading force in delivering a platform for the power industry to meet, share information on the challenges facing the power industry and discuss solutions for advancing Asia’s energy future. Attracting 7,000 delegates and attendees from over 60 countries from across South East Asia and around the world, it is the industry’s premier conference and exhibition dedicated to the power generation, renewable and alternative energy industries.
Event Director, Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen, said, “We are delighted that POWER-GEN Asia will be returning to Thailand from 2nd to 4th October 2013, where we hope to continue upon the achievements of our 20th Anniversary edition, in Bangkok last year where we held our most successful event in the shows history, and enjoyed great support from leading organizations and governments from Thailand and South-East Asia as a whole. As a net importer of energy, Thailand is central to the South-East Asia region’s power development plans and a vital part of a region undergoing change, a key component of this being the US$100 billion investment in the energy industry and its infrastructure within this part of the world.”
The POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia conference is a key forum for senior executives, industry leaders and senior engineers to discuss a range of important topics, the latest issues and solutions, in order to meet the challenge of the growing demand for electricity in the region, all under the 2013 conference theme of “Advancing Asia’s Energy Future”.
“The 2013 Conference Programme is once again taking shape impressively. With a vast amount of abstracts received for the Advisory Board to review this has resulted in 4-track programme featuring strategic and technical presentations. Special focus this year will be on finance and investment within the sector, the influence of fuel pricing and availability on power generation planning, and the importance of energy security to countries that lay within the South-East Asia region. The technical sessions will feature an all-round look at the latest gas turbine developments, cogeneration and CFB based power plants. There is a real focus regarding growth and opportunity in Asia in this years programme and we look forward to some lively and interesting debates at this event,” said Nigel Blackaby, POWER-GEN Asia Conference Director.
As the leading power industry event in Asia, POWER-GEN Asia is proud to receive the support of Thailand’s top industry utilities, government energy organizations and industry trade bodies for the 2013 event. Supporters currently include Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), and the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency; Ministry of Energy (DEDE). This is complimented by the support of top industry trade bodies that include the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation, Institute of Engineers Singapore, Independent Power Producers Forum (IPPF), Thai-European Business Association, Thailand Environment Institute, Environmental Engineering Association of Thailand, World Alliance for Thai Decentralized Energy, Centre for Energy Environment Resources Development, Philippine Independent Power Producers Association, the Energy Research & Development Institute, International Generator Technical Community, and the Petroleum Institute of Thailand.
POWER-GEN Asia will also, for the first time, include an Industrial Water Day as part of its conference programme. Taking place on Thursday October 3rd, 2013, the Water Day will run in conjunction with the other 4 conference tracks taking place as part of this years POWER-GEN Asia Conference. The addition of dedicated water content is an exciting development where the latest industrial water treatments and usage will be discussed, along with addressing the latest technologies and innovations within this industry.
In addition to the Conference, the event boasts a growing exhibition floor, demonstrating the latest and leading technologies and solutions, with POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia delivering a quality audience and experience to all who exhibit and attend, enabling high-level networking and business opportunities.
On an average, Thailand’s annual GDP growth for the next 8 years was estimated to increase at a rate of 5.6% which corresponds to about 5.7% annual growth in power demand. The EGAT’s system peak demand was recorded at 26,423 MW for this year and the power consumption is expected to reach 31,809 MW and 38,726 MW in the year 2016 and 2021, respectively.
At present, the total generating capacity in Thailand’s system, including power imports from neighboring countries, is approximately 33,300 MW of which 45% is owned by EGAT. For the next 4 years, EGAT will invest an amount of 80 billion Baht (US$ 2.7 bn) in generation and transmission systems development. Thailand also has an aggressive renewable energy initiative. The Ministry of Energy has issued an Alternative Energy Development Plan (AEDP 2012-2021), which aims to supply 25% of national consumption by renewable energy resources by 2021.
For companies involved in the manufacture of equipment to the supply of products or services to the power generation industry, POWER-GEN Asia provides the platform and showcase opportunity to reach, meet and demonstrate to the electric power industry professionals and key industry buyers and influencers of South East Asia.
