With the post-flood homebuilding market in Greater Bangkok sluggish, homebuilder PD House Corp introduced raised designs to counter inundation concerns and lower-priced houses aimed at upcountry demand.
Chairman Sitthiporn Suwannasut said overall homebuilding market value this year will decrease by 30% to 6.8 billion baht from 8 billion baht in 2011 as flood worries persist in Bangkok and suburbs. But demand in the provinces has already rebounded.
“The homebuilding market in Greater Bangkok will remain lethargic into the second quarter,” he said.
To deal with concerns about future floods, the company launched two designs of raised houses with vacant ground floors. The unit price for usable area of 305 square metres on an 80-square-wah plot is 5.3 million baht, while for 200 sq m it is 3.5 million baht.
