Myanmar builds a port for LNG tankers to supply 350-megawatt LNG power plant in Thilawa SEZ
The construction process of a port to dock LNG tankers to supply liquefied nature gas (LNG) for 350-megawatt LNG power plant in Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Yangon, is about 40 per cent finished, according to Ministry of Electricity and Energy.
It is one of the electric power projects implemented by the ministry to fulfill the electricity requirement for 2020 summer.
V-Power Co. Ltd. is building the power plant and the inspection team led by Khin Maung Win, Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy went to check the power plant in first week of March.
About 15 per cent of the installation process of regasification unit, 85 per cent of the construction process of foundation to install high and medium speed generators, up to 90 per cent of the installation process of 20-inch natural gas pipeline and 35 per cent of the construction process of a sub-power station are finished.
The ministry announced the list of companies succeeded to build five power plant projects in Kyun Chaung, Ahlone, Kyaukphyu, Thanlyin and Thaketa to meet the demand of electricity requirement in 2020 summer.
The ministry invited International Competitive Bidding (IBC) tender to build the five power plants on June 28 and deadline for the tender was on July 29.
The ministry granted the power to Consortium of VPower Group Holdings Limited and VPower Holdings Limited to build 20.54-megawatt Kyun Chaung power plant, Consortium of China Energy Engineering Group – Hunan Electric Power Design Institute Co. Ltd. and China ITS (Holding) Co. Ltd. and Shen-zhen Shennan Power Gas Turbine Engineering Technique Co. Ltd. to build Ahlone power plant, Consortium of China National Technical Import & Export Corporation, VPower Group Holdings Ltd. and VPower Holdings Ltd. to build Kyaukphyu power plant, Consortium of China National Technical Import & Export Corporation, VPower Group Holdings Ltd. and VPower Holdings Ltd. to build Thanlyin power plant and Consortium of China National Technical Import & Export Corporation, VPower Group Holdings Ltd. and VPower Holdings Ltd. to build Thaketa power plant.
The five power plant projects will generate 1,072.08 megawatts of electricity in total, according to the ministry.
