The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) expects to start the bidding process for the first contract for the construction of the MRT green line extension from Bearing to Samut Prakarn on March 15-23 this year.
Soithip Trisuddhi, Director-General of Office of Transport and Traffic and Planning and board member of the MRTA, said the board has resolved to hold an auction on the construction of the 12.6 kilometers of the green line extension under a budget of 17.2 billion Baht.
She said MRTA will initially hold the auction for the first contract worth 14.7 billion Baht because it is now ready. The MRTA expects to sell the auction document during March 15-23 and the bidders must present their prices by June 22, 2011.
It also expects to sign the contract at some time between August and September this year, and the construction will begin by September.
