The country’s first glass bottomed skywalk hanging out over the top of the cliff by the Mekong River was officially opened yesterday becoming the new tourist attraction of Nong Khai province.
The opening ceremony of the 17 million baht glass bottomed skywalk, 500 metres above mean sea level, at Wat Pa Tak Sua temple in Sangkhom district was presided over by Nong Khai governor Suchart Noppawan.
The opening of the skywalk is part of the project of the province to develop the cliff temple as the “dream destination” of tourists that will link tourist destinations of three provinces, Nong Khai, Loei and Bung Kan, together.
But visiting the glass skywalk, tourists have to abide by the safety rules strictly as the skywalk could accommodate only 20 persons at once.
Opening time of the glass skywalk is from 09.30-16.30 hrs daily.
Drunk visitors and those with epilepsy sickness are not allowed to the glass skywalk, and women are advised not to wear skirts.
In case of heavy rains and storms, the skywalk will be closed to service.
The skywalk overlooks the Mekhong river and the Laotian territory.
Wat Pa Tak Sua is a forest temple located 18 kilometres from Sangkhom district town with a beautiful view of the Mekong River.
