BANGKOK, 21 April 2014 (NNT) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is slated to construct three more parks in the capital this year as part of its initiative to expand green spaces.
The BMA said after its latest meeting, the construction of three parks in various areas of Bangkok would be completed before the end of this year. A 34-rai park is set to be unveiled under the Watcharapol overpass and another will be in Bang Plat district. The last park, which is currently undergoing construction near Suwin Thawong Road, would be completed by August of this year.
Many pending green space projects include those in Bang Bon and Bang Khun Thian will be wrapped up by next year and the year after.
The BMA has made the creation of parks a priority after recent reports suggested that Bangkok has the least amount of green space available among major Asian cities. The capital only has 3 square meters of green per capita, compared to Singapore’s 66 square meters.
