The Erawan Group, which operates the Grand Hyatt and the JW Marriott hotels in Bangkok, Thailand, is opening a chain of hotels in the Philippines.
Kamonwan Wipulakorn, president of the Erawan Group, revealed to a group of Asian journalists that the company is opening branches of Hop Inn hotels in the country, with one set to be launched in Manila in December 2016.
“Our Hop Inn is categorized as economy hotel, which fits well with domestic travelers who look for a clean and comfortable place to stay in a conveniently accessible location,” Kamonwan told INQUIRER.net in an e-mail interview.
She said that the Erawan Group is confident with the economic growth in the country, which is why it chose the Philippines to be the site of its first international venture.
“We believe that the Philippines will offer the fastest and highest economic growth in Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and through our analysis and market research on the ground, we see good very opportunities to expand in the Philippines,” Kamonwan said.
With an already crowded hospitality and tourism market in Manila, the Erawan Group hopes to stand out by offering its 25 years of Thai hospitality experience coupled with its expertise on international standard operation.
Kamonwan also said that its venture in the Philippines will bring more jobs to Filipinos.
“We have created jobs with our on-going construction already. We will set up an operation team in the next few months and the plan is to hire local staff as many as possible as they would understand customers’ requirement and respond well to market,” she said.
