GE Renewable Energy bags turbine deal for 30-MW wind project in Vietnam’s Binh Thuan Province
GE Renewable Energy said today it has won a contract to supply and commission turbines for a 30-MW wind farm project in Vietnam’s Binh Thuan Province.
Under the deal, the General Electric (NYSE:GE) subsidiary will equip the Thuan Nhien Phong wind park with eight units of its 3.8 MW-137 turbines.
The contract was placed by engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) company Vietnam Join-Stock Construction Electricity Corporation (VNECO) and also includes a 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement.
The machines will be installed on customised towers with a hub height of 131.4 metres (431.1 ft ) that suit the local wind turbine conditions in the province, located in the South-Central Coastal region of Vietnam. Once up and running, the wind park will be capable of producing electricity for about 45,000 local homes.
GE noted that this is its second wind turbine deal in Vietnam’s Binh Thuan Province. Last month, the manufacturer secured an order to supply 60 MW of turbines for a project in the country’s Lam Dong province.
