Centara Sappaya Design Resort Rayong is to temporarily close from May 6, 2013 to allow full renovations and the construction of an eight-storey building that will add 30 rooms distinctively designed room to the resort along with a new Spa Cenvaree, a fitness center, another restaurant outlet, and a remodeled lobby.
The projected date for reopening is November 2014.
The resort is the smallest of the Centara Hotels & Resorts properties, having at present only 13 guestrooms, and built to a designer style for the independently minded traveler.
Located on the beachfront in a quiet and rural part of Rayong, the ambience of the resort is one of a secluded and luxurious residence.
The extension and renovations are being carried out under a massive investment that in addition to the new rooms will create a new reception and lobby, add a spa and a fitness center, add a new all-day-dining restaurant, and include an 80-sqm meeting room that will hold 30 persons in a classroom configuration.
“This part of Rayong, with its beautiful bay, is emerging as a high quality destination in which the natural surroundings are the main attraction, and where guests enjoy the seclusion,” says Chris Bailey, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts.
“We have enjoyed great success with Centara Sappaya, and feel that the property can be extended without changing the exclusive residential ambiance.
“When it is completed, we are confident that the resort will give us greater scope to appeal to this very discerning sector of the market, which in Thailand is growing.”
Centara Sappaya Design Resort Rayong is tucked away on a leafy lane and set on a small hillside that leads directly to the beach.
The eight-storey extension will give the resort a total of 42 rooms, of which 12 will be of Superior category, 26 will be Deluxe, and four will be Spa Deluxe. All room categories will offer the choice of a king bed or two double beds.
All rooms will have a balcony and a view across the bay, and each will feature a three-piece bathroom.
The spa will consist of two couple treatment rooms and two single treatment rooms, each with shower and toilet.
The new all-day restaurant is in addition to the existing beachside snack restaurant and bar, which will remain, and will have a total of 79 seats, divided between indoors and outdoors.
