20% of Myanmar’s Yangon-Dala bridge project completed, set to finish by October 2022
The Korea-Myanmar friendship (Yangon-Dala) bridge project has been completed by 20 percent and is due to finish by October in 2020, said Kyaw Kaung Cho, deputy director general of the Bridge Department under the Ministry of Construction.
“Now we have resumed the work of all three phases of the project. For the main bridge, a bole pile and concrete laying were finished in the last week of November. Twenty seven of the 46 bole piles for the main bridge have been completed. We have finished 20 percent on both the Yangon and Dala sides. We are trying to finish the project by October in 2022. We have resumed the project after some delays caused by Covid-19, the deputy director general told The Daily Eleven on December 1.
The project work resumed on November 5 after its suspension for about one month in the Covid-19 period.
In the bridge construction on the Yangon side, there will be also be three bridges—one linking Dala and Yangon along Phonegyi Street, one linking Dala and Sule Pagoda in Yangon along Strand Road and one linking Dala and Ahlone township along Strand Road.
